Some of Gloucestershire’s most hotly-tipped musicians – who are part of The Music Works’ Upsurge Artist Development Programme – are showcasing their work at Studio 340 on Saturday 5th May, 1pm – 4pm as part of Cheltenham Jazz Festival ‘…around town’ events series.
This is a chance to see these rising artists at close quarters – and see exactly why they’re creating waves locally, regionally and nationally. The event – ‘Concept of Collaboration’ – sees participants perform a piece created during a workshop as part of Radio 6’s Gilles Peterson’s artist development scheme, Future Bubblers. The scheme sees Giles and his label, Brownswood Recordings, make inroads into new areas geographically and musically across England. The music for this piece draws on left-field, soul-tinged electronic music and new collaborations.
Gilles Peterson is best known as a radio presenter on Saturday afternoons on BBC 6Music and as an international club DJ. He’s also a music producer and record label boss. Future Bubblers is an expansion of his work, in collaboration with Arts Council England.
The event will also feature performances programmed by Studio 340. Studio 340 is a partnership between The Music Works and CCP – caring for communities and people.
Upsurge is supported by Arts Council England, Help Musicians UK, the PRS Foundation and the Gloucester Roundhouse Exchange.
