A joyful, uplifting and inspiring concert that will take you on a journey from looking for treasure to finding friendship. Eight of the county’s special schools are showcasing their musical talents in ‘The Journey’ on Thursday 14 June at 7-8pm.
The evening celebration is the culmination of many months of hard work by students and teachers, including workshops led by The Music Works, and rehearsals and musical activities in schools between workshops.
This year’s festival is all-new, featuring repertoire chosen by young people, alongside popular classics and new repertoire. All songs have been arranged specifically for the young people involved, and this year they will be accompanied by instrumentalists from the schools.
Schools featured: Alderman Knight School; Belmont School; Bettridge School; Heart of the Forest Community Special School; The Milestone School; Paternoster School; The Shrubberies School; St Rose’s School
Tickets priced £5 are available from the schools (if you’re a parent/carer) or online from: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/439604
The event is funded by Make Music Gloucestershire, the county’s music education hub, which is led by Gloucestershire County Council and supported with funding from the Department for Education through Arts Council England.
