The Music Works attends the BRIT Awards

The team had an amazing evening at the BRIT Awards 2024! We can’t wait to see where the next year takes us, this signifies how far we’ve come as an organization in such a short space of time! It’s not going to be long before you see many of our young people on that stage or working behind the scenes!

International women’s day 2024

8th March

Statistics show that women, girls & non-binary people are hugely underrepresented in the music industry.

At The Music Works we want to address this inequality and provide real opportunities for all young people to make the music they want to make.

Can you help? We are looking for women, girls & non-binary people aged between 8-30 and living in Gloucestershire to fill out our survey this March.

This is an opportunity to tell us about your music tastes, interests and plans so that we can help build the right programmes for you.

Join us in reshaping the music industry. Fill out our survey here

GCODA Presents: Lights Out

In February 2023, the Knife Angel, made from 100,000 seized blades, visited Gloucester Cathedral. The Music Works collaborated with 6 young individuals to create ‘Lights Out,’ an immersive installation addressing knife crime. These individuals formed the group: GCODA and have been working together over the past year to produce an entire album which they released on 23rd February 2024 called ‘Lights Out’.

Lights Out is not just an album but a powerful testament to resilience, friendship and breaking stereotypes.

Stream the album on Spotify or wherever you get your music!

Celebrating Success: Feedback from Our Young Participants on Small Group Mentoring

For many, our sessions have become a highlight of their week. One participant shared, “This is the reason I come in on a Tuesday; because of all the fun we have. It has raised my confidence. Your support has helped me so much throughout my struggles, and I’m extremely grateful for our time here.”

In our small group mentoring sessions with Year 7 students from Archway, we’ve witnessed incredible growth and transformation. Find out more about our small group mentoring programme here.
